Sharon Dodd was born in Queensland her father was from Palm Island in Queensland and the family later moved to Woribinda Aboriginal Community in North Queensland. Sharon learned to paint from her Uncle Winston Dodd whilst living in North Queensland, her paintings depicts elements of salt water dreamings of North Queensland and now that Sharon has moved to the Northern Territory (in 1989) and traveled and lived in many areas in the Territory her works also now depict stories from Central and Northern Australia, consequently she has developed a unique and interesting style.
She is a prolific North Queensland painter of traditional aboriginal themes. Sharon paints the animals she knows from her country the sea and salt water she paints them in her own unique style. She often emphasizes animals (both mythical and real) that are important to her culture. Her popular beautiful artworks are sold worldwide. Sharon currently lives in Darwin Northern Territory and is married with 6 children.
She has also painted for Tandanya Gallery in Adelaide South Australia and her works are also sold in other major Australian cities.
